Small Double Ottoman Beds

A small double ottoman bed measures 120 x 190cm (4ft x 6ft3) - sometimes called a three-quarter bed. It lifts on gas struts to reveal storage across the full footprint of the bed. Each frame is handmade to order in our Yorkshire workshop and upholstered by hand in Plush, Naple or Conniston fabric, with no visible stitching anywhere on the bed upholstery.

Worth knowing before you decide: a full double at 135cm carries exactly the same £69.99 uplift, so it costs the same. Choose the small double because the room needs the narrower footprint, not to save money - there is none to save.

Who a small double actually suits

This size solves a specific problem: a room too narrow for a 135cm double but too big to waste on a single. It gives one adult generous space to spread out, works well for teenagers who have outgrown a single, and makes a guest room genuinely comfortable rather than merely functional. For two adults sleeping here every night it is tight - 60cm each - so consider a full double if this is your main bedroom.

Why storage matters most at this size

Small doubles usually end up in the smallest rooms, and small rooms have the least floor space to spare for furniture. An ottoman recovers the entire area under the bed - roughly 570-680 litres depending on frame depth - without adding a single centimetre to the footprint. In a box room that is often the difference between needing a wardrobe and not.

Room size and clearance

Allow around 125cm of wall width with the headboard fitted, and 200-205cm front to back. A room of about 2.4 x 3m keeps a 60cm walkway on both sides. If the foot of the bed sits close to a wall, choose a side-lift model so the platform has room to open.

Available in Plush (soft short-pile velvet), Naple (flatter woven finish) and Conniston (heavier textured weave). Teddy bouclé designs add a Teddy fabric option. All hand-upholstered with no stitching visible on the fabric.
