How to choose an ottoman bed

Pick your size. A double (4ft6 / 135×190cm) suits most couples; a king (5ft / 150×200cm) adds shoulder room and an extra 10cm of length; a super king (6ft / 180×200cm) is the most spacious standard UK size. Measure your room allowing at least 60cm of walkway around the bed — and remember an end-lift ottoman needs clearance at the foot of the bed to open fully.

End lift or side lift? End-lift (front-opening) ottomans give the largest single storage space and suit rooms where the foot of the bed is clear. Side-lift designs open along the long edge, which works better in narrow rooms or where the bed sits against a side wall.
