Double Ottoman Beds

A double ottoman bed measures 135 x 190cm (4ft6 x 6ft3) and is the most popular bed size in the UK. The mattress platform lifts on gas struts to give you the whole footprint of the bed as storage. Every frame is handmade to order in Yorkshire and upholstered by hand in Plush, Naple or Conniston fabric, with no visible stitching anywhere on the bed upholstery.

How much does a double ottoman bed cost?

Double adds £69.99 to the single-size price of any frame in our range. Our double ottoman beds start at £339.98. A small double at 120cm carries the same £69.99 uplift, so the two sizes cost the same - which means if the room takes a full double, there is no saving in going narrower.

Room size you need

A double works in most UK bedrooms. With the headboard fitted, allow around 140cm of wall width and 200-205cm front to back. A room of roughly 2.6 x 3m lets you keep a 60cm walkway on both sides. UK building regulations allow a double bedroom to be as small as 11.5m2, which is precisely why storage under the bed matters so much at this size.

How much fits underneath

A double ottoman holds roughly 640-770 litres depending on the frame depth - about eight to ten large storage boxes. That is the equivalent of a small wardrobe recovered from space you already own. End-lift models give one uninterrupted cavity; side-lift models suit rooms where the foot of the bed is close to a wall.

Double or small double?

A double gives two sleepers 67.5cm each - less than the width of a single bed. A small double at 120cm drops that to 60cm each, which most couples find tight for nightly use but perfectly workable in a guest room or a box room. Since both sizes cost the same, choose the double unless the room genuinely cannot take the extra 15cm.

Every double ottoman comes in Plush (soft short-pile velvet), Naple (flatter woven finish) or Conniston (heavier textured weave), with a Teddy fabric option on our teddy bouclé designs. All hand-upholstered with no stitching visible on the fabric.
