The Arvell Elegant Divan Bed is a handmade upholstered divan with a 24-inch padded headboard in plush velvet, on a solid timber base you can order with no drawers, two drawers or four.
Who it suits
The entry point to our divan range, and one of two frames at this price. A divan suits you if you want a low, solid base with no gap underneath collecting dust, and drawers you can open without lifting the mattress. If you would rather have one large storage cavity that takes suitcases and spare duvets whole, an ottoman bed is the better choice - drawers cannot hold long items.
Choosing between our divans
All five of our divans share the same 24-inch headboard height and the same drawer options, so you are choosing the headboard design in the photographs rather than a difference in storage or construction. Caruo is the same price with contemporary styling; Cianoi and Bellun add a left or right two-drawer choice.

Divan base sizes are standard UK:
- Single - 90cm wide x 190cm long (3ft x 6ft3)
- Small Double - 120cm wide x 190cm long (4ft x 6ft3)
- Double - 135cm wide x 190cm long (4ft6 x 6ft3)
- King - 150cm wide x 200cm long (5ft x 6ft6)
- Super King - 180cm wide x 200cm long (6ft x 6ft6)

Fabric and upholstery
Upholstered by hand and finished so that no stitching is visible anywhere on the bed upholstery - which matters on a divan because the base is one large uninterrupted surface where a seam would show. Choose Plush (short-pile velvet), Naple (flatter woven finish) or Conniston (heavier textured weave).
Mattress compatibility
Takes any standard UK mattress in the matching size, and will also accept a separate headboard if you would rather fit your own. A mattress is not included. See our mattress range.
Storage
Drawers run on runners beneath the base and open without disturbing the mattress - easier for everyday items than an ottoman, but divided, so long items will not fit. Two drawers sit on one side; four give you storage on both. Read ottoman vs divan storage compared.
Assembly
Easy home assembly. Check that drawer sides have clear floor space to open before positioning the bed.
