UK bed delivery usually takes 7–10 working days for made-to-order frames, and the single thing that most often goes wrong is access — not timing. Measuring your hallway and stairs before ordering prevents the overwhelming majority of delivery problems.

Typical UK delivery timescales
| Type of purchase | Typical timescale |
|---|---|
| Made-to-order frame | 7–10 working days |
| Stocked frame from a warehouse | 2–5 working days |
| Mattress (stocked) | 2–5 working days |
| Remote areas (Highlands, islands, NI) | Add several days |
Made-to-order takes longer for a reason: the frame is built in your size and fabric after you order. Our own timescale and courier contact process is on the delivery page.
The access measurements that matter
Measure the narrowest point on the route from your front door to the bedroom:
- Front door width and any porch turn.
- Hallway width, especially at corners.
- Stair width and the turn at any landing — the tightest point in most UK homes.
- Banister clearance — often overlooked.
- Bedroom door width.
Compare these against the largest single packaged panel on the product page — usually the headboard. Flat-packed frames like ours pass where assembled beds cannot, which is exactly why we ship them that way. Our full measuring guide covers the room itself.
Preparing for delivery day
- Clear the route and remove obstacles before the courier arrives.
- Have someone available to sign — and to help move packages if delivery is to the door.
- Check packaging for damage before signing where possible.
- Don't dispose of packaging until the bed is assembled and tested.
- Plan to assemble in the room the bed will live in — see our assembly guide.
Delivery charges and remote areas
Most UK mainland addresses receive free delivery from us. Some remote areas — parts of the Scottish Highlands, the islands and Northern Ireland — may carry a surcharge, which is always shown at checkout before payment rather than added afterwards.

How long does bed delivery take in the UK?
Typically 7–10 working days for made-to-order frames, 2–5 days for stocked items.
What if my bed won't fit up the stairs?
Flat-packed frames usually will — check the largest packaged panel against your narrowest point before ordering.
Do bed deliveries come into the room?
Many UK couriers deliver to the door only. Check the retailer's stated service before ordering if you need room-of-choice delivery.
Are there extra charges for the Highlands or Northern Ireland?
Often yes — any surcharge should be shown at checkout, not applied later.
