Moonlight Explorer Kids Bed

The Moonlight Explorer Kids Bed is a handmade upholstered children's bed with padded upholstered sides and a robust frame, built to take years of daily use in a child's room.

Who it suits

The most substantial bed in our kids range, and the one to choose on construction rather than styling. If a previous bed loosened, creaked or shifted, the heavier frame here is the reason to trade up. The padded sides give a degree of enclosure without the deep surround of the Cosy Castle, so it suits a child who is past needing to be contained but still likes a defined edge. If you want the surround, spend less and get the Cosy Castle instead - this bed's premium is in the frame.

One honest note: a bed is furniture, not play equipment. The frame is built to be durable, but we would not encourage climbing or jumping on it, and the padded sides are not a safety bed guard or a fall-prevention device.

Single is the usual choice for a child's room, but the frame is made in all standard UK sizes:

• Single - 90cm wide x 190cm long (3ft x 6ft3)
• Small Double - 120cm wide x 190cm long (4ft x 6ft3)
• Double - 135cm wide x 190cm long (4ft6 x 6ft3)
• King - 150cm wide x 200cm long (5ft x 6ft6)
• Super King - 180cm wide x 200cm long (6ft x 6ft6)

Fabric and upholstery

Upholstered by hand and finished so that no stitching is visible anywhere on the bed upholstery. Choose Plush (short-pile velvet), Naple (flatter woven finish), Conniston (heavier textured weave) or Teddy bouclé. In a child's room the flatter Naple and Conniston weaves wear better and mark less than a pile fabric.

Mattress compatibility

The slatted base takes any standard UK mattress in the matching size, including a standard UK single. A mattress is not included. See our mattress range.

Simple assembly with clear instructions and all fittings included. Two people recommended.
